Sporting Lisbon assistant coach and second team head coach João Pereira is expected to succeed Amorim
According to a report from Italian media Nicolo Schira, with the possibility of Amorim taking over at Manchester United, João Pereira, assistant coach and head coach of the second team at Sporting Lisbon, is expected to be his successor. Previously, Sporting Lisbon officially announced that they are aware of Manchester United's intention to pay a €10 million buyout clause to lure Amorim away.
Now, according to Nicolo Schira, João Pereira, who is currently the assistant coach of the first team and head coach of the second team at Sporting Lisbon, is just one step away from becoming the new head coach of the first team.
During his playing career, João Pereira played for clubs including Benfica, Braga, Valencia, Sporting Lisbon, Hannover 96, and Trabzonspor. Additionally, he has made 40 appearances for the Portuguese national team.
