The AFC has officially announced that the AFC Annual Awards Ceremony will be held in Seoul, South Korea, on October 29 at 7 PM Beijing time (8 PM Korean time). This is the first time the awards ceremony will take place in South Korea, as previous ceremonies were held at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The event has recently been changed to rotate among AFC member countries.
Tonight, the AFC will present awards for Asian Footballer of the Year, Asian Footballer of the Year (Female), AFC Annual Best International Male and Female Footballers, Best Young Player, and a Special Referee Award, among others.
Among the candidates for the AFC Annual Best International Player are Son Heung-min, Mehdi Taremi, and Jordanian forward Yazan Al-Naimat. The nominees for Asian Footballer of the Year include South Korean player Hwang In-beom, Qatari star Akram Afif, and Jordanian international Yazan Al-Naimat.
