Two Polish referees suspended by UEFA until next June for stealing road signs while intoxicated

UEFA has officially announced that Polish referees Frankowski and Musiał have been suspended until June 2025 after being detained by police for stealing road signs while intoxicated.

On Friday, UEFA's Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body declared that Frankowski and Musiał were disqualified from officiating due to "violating standards of decency and fundamental principles" and "bringing disrepute to sport and UEFA." In early August, Frankowski and Musiał were assigned as VAR referees for the match between Dynamo Kyiv and Glasgow Rangers. However, before the game, they got drunk, wandered the streets carrying stolen road signs, and were subsequently taken to a detox center for the night by police.

The two referees had already been suspended by the Polish Football Association. Both submitted explanations and publicly admitted their wrongdoing, expressing remorse. They will not be able to officiate in domestic Polish matches for the next five months, though they may return to officiating if they maintain good conduct afterward.
